Islamabad responded by\u00a0downing five Indian jets.<\/p>\n<p>After\u00a0intercepting\u00a0drones sent by India and\u00a0tit-for-tat\u00a0strikes on each other\u2019s airbases, it took American intervention on May 10 for both sides to finally drop their guns and declare a\u00a0ceasefire.<\/p>\n<p>India has since continued its aggressive posturing even as Pakistan has warned against any further military aggression and\u00a0offered talks.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, the Indian premier\u00a0said\u00a0that Pakistan would not get water from rivers over which India has rights.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement\u00a0issued\u00a0by the FO on X today, \u201cPakistan categorically rejects the baseless, provocative, and irresponsible allegations made by the Indian prime minister during a recent public address in Rajasthan.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe remarks, replete with distortions, misrepresentations, and inflammatory rhetoric, are clearly aimed at stoking regional tensions for narrow political gains,\u201d the FO said, adding that such statements not only reflect a deliberate attempt to mislead the public but also violate the norms responsible statecraft.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cResorting to threats and boasting about military action against a sovereign nation is a grave breach of the United Nations Charter and established principles of international law,\u201d the FO said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis dangerous approach undermines regional peace and stability,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>The foreign ministry said that Pakistan remained a \u201cconsistent and proactive partner in the global fight against terrorism\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny insinuation seeking to associate Pakistan with acts of terrorism is factually incorrect and patently misleading,\u201d it continued.<\/p>\n<p>It noted that the Indian premier\u2019s tactic was \u201coften employed to divert attention from India\u2019s own internal challenges\u201d, adding that the Indian attempts to mask its \u201cserious human rights violations\u201d in occupied Kashmir by scapegoating Pakistan were well-documented and increasingly recognised by the international community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plight of the Kashmiri people and their just struggle for self-determination cannot be obscured by aggressive rhetoric and political deflection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan urged the Indian leadership to \u201cexercise responsibility and restraint\u201d, the FO said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEscalatory statements and belligerent posturing serve no purpose other than exacerbating tensions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRather than resorting to fictitious narratives and warmongering for electoral mileage, India should demonstrate maturity by resolving outstanding disputes through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy,\u201d the FO noted.<\/p>\n<p>It added that Pakistan remained firmly committed to \u201cpeaceful coexistence, regional stability, and constructive engagement\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHowever, our desire for peace should not be misconstrued as weakness,\u201d it said, adding that the people and the armed forced were \u201cfully prepared and capable of defending the country\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny misadventure or aggression will be met with a resolute and proportionate response,\u201d the FO added.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It said that Pakistan has demonstrated its resolve in the past and will do so again, if required.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe international community must take serious note of India\u2019s aggressive posture and hate-driven narratives that threaten regional peace,\u201d it said, adding that it was \u201cimperative to discourage such rhetoric and actions to preserve stability in South Asia\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cGlorification of conflict benefits no one, and the path to lasting peace lies in dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international law,\u201d it concluded.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"670\" data-end=\"1423\">The tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified following last month\u2019s attack in Pahalgam.
