ISLAMABAD: Pakistan\u2019s top javelin throwers Arshad Nadeem and Muhammad Yasir have successfully qualified for the finals of the 26th Asian Athletics Championships, held in South Korea.<\/p>\n
This comes months after Arshad\u2019s historic gold medal win at the Paris 2024 Olympics, further cementing his status as one of Pakistan\u2019s leading athletes.<\/p>\n
Arshad Nadeem, hailing from Mian Channu, secured his spot in the final with an impressive throw of 86.34 meters in the A Qualification round, accomplishing this on his very first attempt. Muhammad Yasir also booked his place in the final after a solid 76.07-meter throw in the B Qualification round. Currently, Arshad leads the field of 21 finalists, followed by Sri Lanka\u2019s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage and Japan\u2019s Yuta Sakiyama. Yasir enters the final ranked ninth among competitors.<\/p>\n
Arshad took to Instagram to share the exciting news, saying, \u201cAlhamdulillah qualified this morning for the final competition tomorrow afternoon [May 31] at 1:10 pm PKT at the Asian Championships. As always I would need your support and prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alongside the javelin finalists, Pakistan\u2019s athletics contingent includes several other competitors. Sprinter Tameem Khan finished 17th in the Women\u2019s 100m heats, while Shajar Abbas ran in the Men\u2019s 400m heats and semifinals, finishing 12th overall. Abdul Mueed also participated in the 400m heats, placing 27th.<\/p>\n
