ISLAMABAD: You<\/em> star Madeline Brewer has spoken out strongly against online trolls criticizing her appearance, following her role as Bront\u00eb, aka Louise Flannery, in the final season of the hit Netflix series.<\/p>\n

Despite portraying the powerful female lead who ultimately defeats serial killer Joe Goldberg, Brewer has faced a surprising wave of hate\u2014most of it targeting her looks rather than her performance.<\/p>\n

In a candid interview with People Magazine<\/em>, the 33-year-old actress admitted she didn\u2019t expect universal praise for her character, but certainly didn\u2019t foresee being labeled \u201cugly\u201d by some fans of the show. \u201cI get that I\u2019m not everybody\u2019s cup of tea, but I\u2019m not ugly,\u201d she asserted, responding to harsh online comments.<\/p>\n

Misogyny and Fan Backlash<\/h3>\n

Brewer expressed disappointment in how viewers, especially young women, reacted negatively to her role. \u201cI had thought the largest fan base of this show is women… I never anticipated the amount of misogyny to be fired at me,\u201d she said. Reflecting on the backlash, she believes some fans were upset that a woman\u2014especially a new, unconventional one\u2014was responsible for ending Joe\u2019s twisted arc.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt especially pisses them off that it was a woman. And not just any woman, but one they don\u2019t find attractive,\u201d she explained. Brewer described the online trolling as a manifestation of deep-rooted biases, saying she was called things like \u201cgoblin\u201d and even accused of needing plastic surgery.<\/p>\n

Stronger and Unbothered in Her 30s<\/h3>\n

Though the remarks triggered memories of childhood bullying, Brewer says she’s better equipped to deal with such negativity today. \u201cIf this had happened when I was 25, I would have crumbled\u2026 Now, I don\u2019t care,\u201d she said, crediting therapy and maturity for her resilience.<\/p>\n

She also shared how her fianc\u00e9, cinematographer Jack Thompson-Roylance, has been her rock. \u201cHe thinks I\u2019m the most beautiful woman in the whole world,\u201d she beamed.
