Only five countries \u2014 the Soviet Union, the United States, China, India, and Japan \u2014 have managed soft landings on the moon so far.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"695\" data-end=\"1363\">Private companies are increasingly competing to provide cost-effective and frequent space missions, challenging government dominance. Last year, Intuitive Machines became the first private company to land on the moon, albeit with some landing angle issues.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"695\" data-end=\"1363\">More recently, Firefly Aerospace\u2019s Blue Ghost achieved a successful touchdown on the same SpaceX rocket launch as Resilience.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1365\" data-end=\"1416\"><strong data-start=\"1365\" data-end=\"1416\">Challenges and Competition in Lunar Exploration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"1992\">Lunar landings require precise control of thrusters to slow spacecraft descent, making the task extremely difficult. While Intuitive Machines\u2019 follow-up mission recently failed, ispace is hopeful for a successful landing despite Resilience\u2019s longer travel time to the moon.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"1992\">Meanwhile, another Japanese startup, Space One, is also pushing private space boundaries by attempting satellite launches, though it faced setbacks in a recent rocket launch.
