ISLAMABAD: Former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has warned that the world has become \u201cless safe\u201d following recent escalations in the Subcontinent, as he addressed leading US think tanks and lawmakers in Washington.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His comments came amid growing concerns about the stability of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, a situation he described as dangerously fragile.<\/p>\n

Speaking as head of a high-level Pakistani delegation, Bilawal stated that the threshold for war between the two nuclear-armed nations is \u201cthe lowest it has ever been.\u201d<\/p>\n

He cautioned that even a single incident, such as a terrorist attack in India\u2014regardless of proof\u2014could trigger a full-scale conflict.<\/p>\n

The remarks came just one day after US President Donald Trump acknowledged Pakistan\u2019s \u201cvery strong leadership\u201d as a factor in recent de-escalation efforts.<\/p>\n

Diplomatic Push in Washington<\/h3>\n

The Pakistani delegation\u2019s visit was marked by a series of strategic, behind-the-scenes meetings with influential US lawmakers, including Congressman Brian Mast, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and other senior officials.<\/p>\n

Bilawal’s team focused on highlighting Pakistan\u2019s commitment to regional peace while addressing concerns over India\u2019s recent actions, particularly the unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.<\/p>\n

Bilawal criticized India\u2019s move, calling it a breach of international law and a \u201cdangerous precedent\u201d that adds a new layer of complexity to regional tensions.<\/p>\n

He emphasized the urgency of preventing further militarization of natural resources, such as water, which could push South Asia toward irreversible instability.<\/p>\n

Call for US Mediation<\/h3>\n

Reiterating the need for global engagement, Bilawal urged the United States to play a more assertive role in resolving long-standing disputes, especially the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n

He stated, \u201cIf the US uses its full weight, it can help bring India to the table for a meaningful resolution.\u201d<\/p>\n

The visit also included a bipartisan dinner at Pakistan House, where members of Congress reaffirmed interest in promoting peace and development in the region.<\/p>\n
