ISLAMABAD: The spokesperson for the Power Division has strongly rejected circulating social media reports claiming a ban on installing a second electricity meter at residential properties.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These reports have been labeled as entirely false, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to create public unrest.
Spreading or sharing such fake news is a punishable offense under the PECA Act.<\/p>\n

Second Meter Allowed Under Existing Regulations<\/h3>\n

The spokesperson clarified that under existing rules, a second electricity meter can still be obtained for a residential property.<\/p>\n

According to the NEPRA Consumer Service Manual 2021, separate meters are permitted for portions of a residence that have an independent entrance, separate electrical circuit, individual kitchen, and are structurally distinct.<\/p>\n
