{"id":2624,"date":"2025-06-10T14:07:28","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T09:07:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/youdigital.pk\/en\/?p=2624"},"modified":"2025-06-10T13:09:34","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T08:09:34","slug":"ppp-calls-for-major-salary-and-pension-increases-ahead-of-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/youdigital.pk\/en\/2025\/06\/10\/ppp-calls-for-major-salary-and-pension-increases-ahead-of-budget","title":{"rendered":"PPP Calls for Major Salary and Pension Increases Ahead of Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"148\" data-end=\"349\"><strong>ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday demanded significant relief for government employees and pensioners, just a day before the federal budget for FY2025-26 is set to be presented.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"351\" data-end=\"588\">Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, Head of the PPP Labour Bureau, urged the federal government to increase government employees\u2019 salaries by at least 50% and to double pensions under the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) scheme.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"590\" data-end=\"706\">The party also called for raising the national minimum wage from the current Rs37,000 to Rs50,000 per month.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"708\" data-end=\"938\">Addressing a press conference, Mr Ahmed said the PPP would join a protest rally of government employees outside Parliament on budget day (Tuesday), where Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is scheduled to present the fiscal plan.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"940\" data-end=\"1117\">Citing recent World Bank data, he said that 44% of Pakistan\u2019s population lives below the poverty line, making it imperative to provide economic relief to low-income earners.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1119\" data-end=\"1139\">He further demanded:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1140\" data-end=\"1330\">\n<li data-start=\"1140\" data-end=\"1196\">\n<p data-start=\"1142\" data-end=\"1196\">Improved health facilities for industrial workers,<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1246\">\n<p data-start=\"1199\" data-end=\"1246\">Increases in marriage and death grants, and<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1247\" data-end=\"1330\">\n<p data-start=\"1249\" data-end=\"1330\">The merging of ad hoc relief into the basic pay structure of public servants.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1332\" data-end=\"1476\">Mr Ahmed also opposed proposed pension reforms, urging the government to roll them back in light of the financial hardships facing retirees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday demanded significant relief for government employees and pensioners, just a day before the federal budget for FY2025-26 is set to be presented.
