ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has postponed the hearing on sentence suspension petitions filed by former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the 190 million pounds corruption case.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The hearing was delayed because Justice Muhammad Asif is currently on leave.<\/p>\n

Initially, a division bench led by Acting Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif was scheduled to hear the case, but today only a single bench headed by the Acting Chief Justice will hold sessions.<\/p>\n

Case Background and Sentencing Details<\/strong>
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced by an accountability court in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case.<\/p>\n

Imran Khan was handed a 14-year prison sentence, while Bushra Bibi received a seven-year jail term.<\/p>\n

Besides imprisonment, Imran Khan was fined Rs1 million, and Bushra Bibi was fined Rs500,000.<\/p>\n

Failure to pay the fines will result in additional jail time\u2014six months for Imran Khan and three months for Bushra Bibi.<\/p>\n

The court also ordered that Al-Qadir University be taken under government control.<\/p>\n

The case revolves around a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference filed in December 2023.<\/p>\n

It alleges that Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and others misused 190 million pounds, assets seized by the UK\u2019s National<\/p>\n

Crime Agency (NCA) from a property tycoon and intended for Pakistan.<\/p>\n

The controversial settlement was approved by the PTI government in 2019 but kept confidential.<\/p>\n

Bushra Bibi was implicated due to her role as a trustee of the Al-Qadir Trust.<\/p>\n

The couple also allegedly received improper benefits, including land for establishing Al-Qadir University in Sohawa.<\/p>\n
