ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is currently enduring a severe heatwave with temperatures soaring above 45\u00b0C in almost all major cities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bhakkar and Jacobabad reported the highest temperatures, reaching 49\u00b0C, causing widespread discomfort and health risks.<\/p>\n

The Pakistan Meteorological Department warns that the hot and dry conditions will persist for the next 48 to 72 hours across much of the country.<\/p>\n

Widespread Impact and Health Concerns<\/h3>\n

Punjab cities like Sargodha and Gujranwala faced temperatures nearing 48\u00b0C, while Lahore recorded 46.2\u00b0C.
Only hill stations such as Murree saw some relief with cooler temperatures around 32\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Sindh\u2019s Jacobabad and Mohenjo-Daro were especially hard hit with readings of 49\u00b0C and 48\u00b0C respectively.<\/p>\n

Karachi\u2019s 40\u00b0C temperature combined with 70% humidity made conditions particularly harsh for residents.<\/p>\n

Hospitals in Punjab reported a surge in heatstroke cases, mainly among labourers, children, and the elderly.<\/p>\n

Power outages worsened the situation, depriving many of cooling facilities like fans and air conditioners.<\/p>\n

Government Response and Safety Measures<\/h3>\n

Authorities across the provinces have urged citizens to stay indoors during peak heat hours and stay hydrated.<\/p>\n

Punjab\u2019s Relief Commissioner Nabil Javed ordered officials to provide cool drinking water at public places and set up emergency heatstroke treatment counters at hospitals.<\/p>\n

Water supplies in vulnerable areas like Cholistan are being closely monitored to avoid shortages.
Health advisories emphasize wearing light, loose clothing and avoiding strenuous outdoor activities between 11 am and 4 pm.<\/p>\n

The PDMA director warned of the life-threatening nature of the heatwave and urged extra caution for vulnerable groups.
