ISLAMABAD: The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has officially denied rumors about an increase in registration fees for motorcycles and electric bikes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Contrary to viral social media claims, the department clarified that no such proposal is currently under consideration.<\/p>\n

No Change in Registration Fee Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to Amber Jabeen, spokesperson for the Finance, Excise, and Taxation Minister, the online speculations are baseless.<\/p>\n

She confirmed that Director General Excise and Taxation, Umar Sher, has also dismissed the rumors, labeling them as purely \u201cspeculative.\u201d<\/p>\n

As per the current official structure, registration charges remain the same:<\/p>\n

    Up to 70cc: Rs. 1,000<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    71cc to 100cc: Rs. 1,500<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    101cc to 125cc: Rs. 2,000<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    126cc to 150cc: Rs. 2,500<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    Above 150cc: 2% of the bike\u2019s value<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Additionally, electric bikes continue to benefit from a 95% discount on both registration fees and token tax, making them an economical choice for urban commuters.<\/p>\n

    No Fitness Certificate Fee or Mandate<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Addressing another concern, a representative from the Punjab Vehicle Inspection and Certification System (VICS) confirmed that no official order has been issued regarding a Rs. 1,000 fee for motorcycle fitness certificates.<\/p>\n

    He further stated that VICS has not been instructed to begin inspections for motorcycles.<\/p>\n

    Importantly, the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Ordinance 2025, recently passed, does not include motorcycles under the list of vehicles requiring mandatory fitness certification.<\/p>\n
