Today marks the fifth death anniversary of Tariq Aziz, the legendary television host, actor, poet, and politician who passed away on June 17, 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pioneer of Pakistani Television<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Born on April 28, 1936, in Jalandhar (British India), Tariq Aziz began his professional journey with Radio Pakistan in Lahore. In 1964, when Pakistan Television (PTV) was launched, he became the first male announcer<\/strong> on the channel. His unmatched charisma and eloquence soon made him a household name, especially as the host of \u201cNeelam Ghar\u201d<\/strong>, a quiz show that ran for nearly 40 years and became a national institution.<\/p>\n

Versatile Talent in Film and Poetry<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In addition to television, Aziz made notable contributions to Pakistani cinema. He starred in several films, including Insaniyat<\/em> (1967), Salgirah<\/em>, Qasam Us Waqt Ki<\/em>, Katari<\/em>, Charagh Kahan Roshni Kahan<\/em>, and Haar Gaya Insaan<\/em>. He was also a poet in both Urdu and Punjabi, sharing reflections of society, patriotism, and human values through his verses.<\/p>\n

National Recognition and Political Service<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In recognition of his services, the Government of Pakistan awarded him the Pride of Performance<\/strong> in 1992. Tariq Aziz also served as a Member of the National Assembly<\/strong> from 1997 to 1999, highlighting his commitment to public service beyond the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n
