ISLAMABAD: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has firmly rejected claims that the United States played any role in brokering the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan following a brief four-day conflict in May.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Modi made the statement during a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, according to India\u2019s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.<\/p>\n

The Indian official emphasized that all negotiations to halt military actions were conducted directly between Indian and Pakistani military channels.<\/p>\n

He added that the ceasefire was initiated at Pakistan\u2019s request, without any external mediation.<\/p>\n

India Asserts Bilateral Military Dialogue<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Speaking to the media, Foreign Secretary Misri clarified that there were no discussions involving India-U.S. trade deals or any diplomatic intervention regarding Pakistan during that period.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrime Minister Modi told President Trump clearly that India has not accepted any third-party mediation in the past and never will,\u201d Misri stated.<\/p>\n

He reiterated that India\u2019s long-standing position on bilateral disputes remains unchanged and that such matters must be resolved directly between the two nations.<\/p>\n

The call between the two leaders reportedly took place on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada, where Modi attended as a guest.<\/p>\n

The conversation lasted approximately 35 minutes and was said to have been initiated by President Trump.<\/p>\n

U.S. Mediation Claims Contradicted<\/strong><\/h3>\n

President Trump had previously claimed that U.S. efforts had influenced the ceasefire agreement between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.<\/p>\n

He stated in May that his urging led India and Pakistan to choose trade over military escalation.<\/p>\n

The White House has not yet issued a response to India\u2019s denial of U.S. involvement.<\/p>\n
