ISLAMABAD: A major act of sabotage rocked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Lakki Marwat district as terrorists blew up a critical gas pipeline on Tuesday night, according to police officials.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The pipeline, which carries natural gas from the Bettani Gas Field to Punjab, was targeted in the Torwah seasonal stream area\u2014an ideal spot for attackers seeking cover.
The explosion caused a massive gas leak and ignited a fire, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement and emergency teams.<\/p>\n

Assistant spokesperson for the Lakki Marwat district police, Qudratullah, confirmed the incident and called it a deliberate attempt to damage national infrastructure.
\u201cThis is a key pipeline that fuels domestic and industrial use in Punjab. The perpetrators used explosives to destroy a main section of the pipeline,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sabotage Threatens National Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n

Security forces rushed to the site and cordoned off the area shortly after the blast.
Emergency teams also arrived to contain the fire and assess the extent of the destruction.
No casualties were reported, but authorities confirmed that significant damage had occurred.<\/p>\n

Investigations are now underway to track down those responsible for the attack.
Officials have condemned the act as a direct strike on Pakistan\u2019s energy security and regional stability.<\/p>\n

The attack underscores the growing threat posed by terrorist groups who aim to disrupt essential public services and incite fear in local populations.
The district police have termed the attack as an effort to destabilize the area through targeted destruction of key assets.<\/p>\n

Rising Terrorism in Lakki Marwat<\/strong><\/p>\n

This attack comes amid a rising trend in terrorism across KP and Balochistan, particularly after the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire in late 2022.<\/p>\n

Lakki Marwat, once pacified through security operations, has again emerged as a militant hotspot.
Earlier this month, three terrorists were killed in a shootout with police and a local peace committee, resulting in the martyrdom of one officer.<\/p>\n

In May, police and CTD commandos carried out joint operations in the area targeting suspected militants.<\/p>\n
