Barisal health chief Shyamol Krishna Mondal called it \u201cthe worst we&#8217;ve seen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"628\" data-end=\"901\">Tragically, five of the country\u2019s 31 dengue deaths this year have occurred in Barisal alone. Among the victims is Azmeri Mona Lisa Zareen, a young mother whose grieving husband, Rakibul Islam Rajan, now comforts their two-year-old daughter, who continues to search for her.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"952\"><strong data-start=\"903\" data-end=\"952\">Climate and Clean Water Crisis Fueling Dengue<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"954\" data-end=\"1244\">Public health experts point to erratic rainfall, rising sea levels, and saltwater intrusion \u2014 all consequences of climate change \u2014 as major contributors to the crisis. The lack of clean water forces residents to store rainwater in containers, creating ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1506\">Kabirul Bashar of Jahangirnagar University stressed, \u201cThe water distribution system is almost absent,\u201d making mosquito control difficult. Mushtuq Husain from IEDCR added that stagnant water in high temperatures is creating the perfect storm for disease spread.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1508\" data-end=\"1535\"><strong data-start=\"1508\" data-end=\"1535\">A Growing Global Threat<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1537\" data-end=\"1769\">Dengue, once rare in coastal Bangladesh, is now spreading faster and further, according to the World Health Organization.
