{"id":4512,"date":"2025-06-29T11:14:17","date_gmt":"2025-06-29T06:14:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/youdigital.pk\/en\/?p=4512"},"modified":"2025-06-29T13:31:58","modified_gmt":"2025-06-29T08:31:58","slug":"punjab-rolls-out-240-electric-buses-for-southern-districts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/youdigital.pk\/en\/2025\/06\/29\/punjab-rolls-out-240-electric-buses-for-southern-districts","title":{"rendered":"Punjab Rolls Out 240 Electric Buses for Southern Districts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"75\" data-end=\"498\"><strong>ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the allocation of 240 electric buses to 24 districts in southern Punjab.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"75\" data-end=\"498\">This decision was made during a special meeting reviewing transport projects and the electric bus initiative\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"75\" data-end=\"498\">CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized inclusive development, insisting that villages should be on par with urban centers and all districts treated equally.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"500\" data-end=\"965\"><strong data-start=\"500\" data-end=\"550\">Electric Bus Distribution and Transit Projects<\/strong><br data-start=\"550\" data-end=\"553\" \/>The first phase involves distributing 240 electric buses across southern districts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"500\" data-end=\"965\">Between August and October, an additional 500 electric buses will be deployed in major cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan, and Rawalpindi.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"500\" data-end=\"965\">By year-end, Punjab expects to introduce a total of 600 electric buses, with 400 dedicated to the Clean Air Programme in Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur, and Lahore.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"967\" data-end=\"1549\"><strong data-start=\"967\" data-end=\"999\">Ongoing Transit Developments<\/strong><br data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1002\" \/>Updates on the Gujranwala Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system were also discussed, including its 22 km route with 28 stations and 80 feeder buses.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"967\" data-end=\"1549\">Plans to extend the BRT route to Gakhar Mandi and build four electric bus depots were reviewed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"967\" data-end=\"1549\">Progress on Faisalabad\u2019s Orange and Red Line transit systems was highlighted, with daily ridership projected at over 185,000 for the Red Line and 111,000 for the Orange Line.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"967\" data-end=\"1549\">The Red Line\u2019s extension now connects Faisalabad Industrial Estate to Salami Chowk, following the Chief Minister\u2019s directives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the allocation of 240 electric buses to 24 districts in southern Punjab.
