Tokyo \/ Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited one of the world\u2019s most advanced traffic control centers in Tokyo, Japan. During her visit, the Chief Minister received a detailed briefing on the traffic control room\u2019s system, infrastructure, and cutting-edge technologies being used.<\/p>\n

Officials informed her that Tokyo is the first city to use infrared technology for traffic control and monitoring. Through a network of CCTV cameras and modern sensors installed along roadsides, vehicle movement is continuously tracked to ensure smooth traffic flow.<\/p>\n

CM Maryam Nawaz also reviewed systems for data collection, transport planning, and emergency response. She observed advanced monitoring mechanisms used to detect and prevent traffic violations such as over-speeding, lane discipline breaches, and signal jumping.<\/p>\n

It was further highlighted that Tokyo\u2019s traffic control system can also issue timely alerts to citizens about changing weather conditions, helping them plan safer commutes.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the media during the visit, CM Maryam Nawaz stated that Japan\u2019s expertise and technological advancements will be utilized to improve Punjab\u2019s urban mobility and traffic systems. She announced that Lahore will be developed as Punjab\u2019s first \u201cSmart City\u201d under a modern traffic management system, with dedicated funds already allocated in the Annual Development Program.<\/p>\n

She also shared that mass transit systems are being introduced in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad to ease traffic congestion. Additionally, the integration of artificial intelligence with the traffic systems of major cities in Punjab is currently underway. Safe City cameras are also being adapted for traffic monitoring purposes.<\/p>\n

Maryam Nawaz further stated that over 12,000 kilometers of roads have been constructed or rehabilitated across the province to enhance traffic flow and connectivity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
