Lahore :<\/strong> Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif<\/strong> chaired an intensive four-hour strategy session on Wednesday to evaluate the worsening flood emergency across the province and streamline relief operations.<\/p>\n

The high-level meeting reviewed detailed field reports from affected districts, painting a grim picture\u2014particularly in Kasur<\/strong>, where catastrophic flooding from the Sutlej River has inundated 72 villages<\/strong> and disrupted the lives of over 45,000 residents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a swift and assertive response, CM Maryam authorized the deployment of military units<\/strong> in seven districts<\/strong>\u2014Lahore<\/strong>, Kasur<\/strong>, Sialkot<\/strong>, Narowal<\/strong>, Faisalabad<\/strong>, Okara<\/strong>, and Sargodha<\/strong>\u2014to assist local authorities in rescue and rehabilitation efforts.<\/p>\n

Officials confirmed that provincial agencies including Rescue 1122<\/strong>, PDMA<\/strong>, Civil Defense<\/strong>, local police, and district administrations are on 24\/7 emergency duty<\/strong>, spearheading evacuation drives and delivering aid to displaced families.<\/p>\n

The situation remains critical in other areas as well, with flooding reported in 12 villages in Pakpattan<\/strong>, 23 in Vehari<\/strong>, 75 in Bahawalnagar<\/strong>, and 15 in Bahawalpur<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To bolster relief efforts, authorities have dispatched vital equipment and supplies, including 130 rescue boats<\/strong>, 115 outboard motors<\/strong>, six emergency motorbikes<\/strong>, 1,300 life jackets<\/strong>, and 245 life rings<\/strong>. More than 150,000 individuals<\/strong> and 35,000 animals<\/strong> have been safely evacuated to higher ground. Medical and veterinary relief camps<\/strong> are now operational, serving over 2,600 flood victims<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

CM Maryam Nawaz instructed all public hospitals to shift to emergency response mode<\/strong> and assured the public that the government is fully committed to protecting lives and restoring normalcy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
