Gujrat : <\/strong>Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif<\/strong> has expressed satisfaction over the ongoing floodwater drainage operations in Gujrat<\/strong>, noting that the situation is steadily improving thanks to timely and coordinated efforts.<\/p>\n

In a public statement, the Chief Minister said that Fawara Chowk<\/strong> has been successfully cleared and residents will soon see full relief from the recent flooding. \u201cThe two-foot drop in water levels within just one day clearly reflects the effectiveness of the drainage operation,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

She commended the efforts of all government departments and officials involved, praising their active role and commitment in restoring normalcy.<\/p>\n

During a detailed briefing, Maryam Nawaz was informed that work is in progress at Lorai<\/strong> to redirect the flow of floodwater. Authorities confirmed that sufficient machinery and human resources are in place to manage any emergency situation.<\/p>\n

Officials also reported that teams from WASA, the Irrigation Department, C&W<\/strong>, and other agencies are actively working on the ground. Eight executive engineers from WASA<\/strong> are currently stationed in Gujrat as part of the relief effort. Drone technology<\/strong> is being used to identify bottlenecks and obstructed areas in water flow, while the Irrigation Department is conducting a research-based assessment<\/strong> to guide future planning and infrastructure upgrades.<\/p>\n

It was further shared that efforts are underway to formally establish WASA as an independent body<\/strong> in Gujrat. This transition aims to create lasting solutions for the city\u2019s drainage, sanitation, and sewerage systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
