The situation escalated as the Thado Dam overflowed, causing the Malir and Lyari rivers to swell to historic levels and inundate nearby neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"467\" data-end=\"876\">Low-lying areas including Saadi Town, Scheme 33, Malir, M-9, Sohrab Goth, Khamiso Goth, and Machar Colony have been submerged under water, forcing residents to evacuate for safety. Emergency services, including Rescue 1122, Pakistan Army, and Pakistan Rangers, are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations. So far, more than 200 people, comprising men, women, and children, have been safely relocated.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"878\" data-end=\"1186\">The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast further heavy rainfall over the next 8 to 9 hours, with the weather system expected to dissipate by September 11 after moving toward Balochistan\u2019s coast. Clouds carrying heavy showers remain over northern Karachi, raising concerns about continued flooding.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1188\" data-end=\"1576\">Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab visited affected areas overnight, describing the Malir River\u2019s water levels as extremely dangerous. He assured citizens that all necessary measures are being taken, with full cooperation from the administration and security forces. He emphasized that the closure of the motorway is a precautionary step to protect lives and expects water levels to recede soon.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1578\" data-end=\"1903\">Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has ordered constant monitoring of the Thado Dam\u2019s water discharge and instructed authorities to implement special strategies to keep the public informed.
