However, the situation in rivers <strong data-start=\"530\" data-end=\"558\">Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab<\/strong> remains under control.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"961\">Briefing on the flood situation alongside <strong data-start=\"625\" data-end=\"678\">Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik<\/strong>, the NDMA chief revealed that more than <strong data-start=\"719\" data-end=\"751\">2.4 million people in Punjab<\/strong> and over <strong data-start=\"761\" data-end=\"781\">150,000 in Sindh<\/strong> have been shifted to safer locations. Relief operations are in full swing, with the government having supplied Punjab with <strong data-start=\"905\" data-end=\"920\">9,000 tents<\/strong> and over <strong data-start=\"930\" data-end=\"960\">9,000 tons of food rations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"963\" data-end=\"1280\">Lt. Gen. Inam warned of <strong data-start=\"987\" data-end=\"1010\">more heavy rainfall<\/strong> between <strong data-start=\"1019\" data-end=\"1042\">September 16 and 18<\/strong>, especially in <strong data-start=\"1058\" data-end=\"1076\">Central Punjab<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1081\" data-end=\"1097\">Azad Kashmir<\/strong>. He emphasized the escalating impact of <strong data-start=\"1138\" data-end=\"1156\">climate change<\/strong>, noting the <strong data-start=\"1169\" data-end=\"1204\">accelerated melting of glaciers<\/strong>, which has significantly increased the risk of flooding across the country.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1282\" data-end=\"1642\">Federal Minister <strong data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1316\">Musadik Malik<\/strong> described climate change as a <strong data-start=\"1347\" data-end=\"1378\">critical national challenge<\/strong>, stating that the <strong data-start=\"1397\" data-end=\"1448\">Prime Minister has declared a climate emergency<\/strong> in Pakistan. He highlighted severe damage in <strong data-start=\"1494\" data-end=\"1517\">Sialkot and Narowal<\/strong> due to torrential rains and confirmed that <strong data-start=\"1561\" data-end=\"1608\">effective measures are being taken in Sindh<\/strong> to mitigate the impact of floods.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1644\" data-end=\"1948\">The minister also shared a grim update, confirming that <strong data-start=\"1700\" data-end=\"1733\">over 900 lives have been lost<\/strong> so far due to floods and heavy rains.
