Lahore:<\/strong> Punjab\u2019s Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has issued a sharp rebuttal to the recent press briefing by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), accusing them of prioritizing political gains over addressing Punjab\u2019s pressing issues. She criticized the PPP for sending mixed messages regarding the flood disaster and the wheat shortage, labeling their approach as opportunistic politics.<\/p>\n

Uzma Bukhari highlighted the contradictions in PPP\u2019s statements, noting that while the party complains about wheat losses, it simultaneously advocates for wheat exports\u2014a stance she called inconsistent. She also questioned PPP\u2019s repeated focus on flooding in Sindh, suggesting that the party is exploiting the natural disaster for political advantage.<\/p>\n

The minister further alleged that PPP has failed to undertake meaningful efforts to support flood victims and is instead leveraging the crisis to score political points. She condemned the party\u2019s use of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a pretext to criticize the Punjab government and questioned the transparency of Sindh\u2019s wheat procurement policies.<\/p>\n

Referring to Bilawal Bhutto\u2019s commendation of Maryam Nawaz\u2019s leadership, Uzma Bukhari remarked that the people of Sindh aspire to have a chief minister with similar capabilities. She also denounced the politicization of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), stressing that the program operates under established laws and should not be manipulated for political gain, especially during times of crisis like floods.<\/p>\n

Uzma Bukhari concluded by stating that if PPP were genuinely focused on governance rather than politics, Punjab would not be facing its current challenges. She urged the opposition to concentrate on problem-solving instead of baseless accusations and emphasized that the government\u2019s decisions are based on the realities on the ground, not political agendas.<\/p>\n
