In response, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 100% tariff on imports from China, escalating tensions between the two nations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"711\" data-end=\"1063\">However, recent telephone talks between U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng were reported to be positive, with both sides agreeing on the need for constructive dialogue and a better understanding of each other&#8217;s positions.
