Islamabad : President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday hailed what he described as a \u201ccalculated yet powerful\u201d response to Indian aggression during last year\u2019s Marka-e-Haq, saying Pakistan\u2019s armed forces and its people remain fully committed and capable of defending the country\u2019s sovereignty and borders.<\/p>\n

Addressing a ceremony at the Pakistan Monument marking the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, the president said the nation was reflecting on a defining moment in its recent history.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, top parliamentary leadership, federal ministers, military chiefs including Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, diplomats, students and representatives from various sectors.<\/p>\n

President Zardari alleged that India carried out unprovoked strikes based on what he called a fabricated Pahalgam incident, targeting civilians and places of worship, while Indian media spread misleading narratives.<\/p>\n

He said Pakistan\u2019s response under the command of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was firm but restrained, reflecting professionalism and responsibility despite having the capability for a stronger retaliation.<\/p>\n

He credited the Pakistan Air Force for its performance, saying it demonstrated exceptional skill and confidence during the conflict, while the Pakistan Navy safeguarded maritime frontiers and maintained operational readiness.<\/p>\n

The president said the episode highlighted national unity, adding that Pakistan stood together in the face of challenges \u201clike a steel wall.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Kashmir, he reiterated Pakistan\u2019s stance that the dispute should be resolved in line with United Nations resolutions and condemned ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n

He also termed the alleged suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty by India as a serious violation, warning it could threaten regional stability due to Pakistan\u2019s dependence on water resources.<\/p>\n

Regarding regional security, President Zardari called for an end to cross-border militancy and urged Afghanistan not to allow its territory to be used against Pakistan or neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n

On Gaza, he demanded an immediate end to violence against civilians and reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s support for an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital.<\/p>\n

He further said Pakistan\u2019s diplomatic engagement had contributed to easing regional tensions and highlighted its constructive role in promoting peace, including efforts related to the US-Iran situation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
