Islamabad :<\/strong> Pakistan and the United States have renewed their cooperation under the Fulbright-HEC programme, with an agreement to support 66 Pakistani PhD scholars over the next five years.<\/p>\n

The renewed partnership was formalised between Pakistan\u2019s Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan, further strengthening academic and educational cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

The agreement will remain in force from the financial year 2026-27 to 2031-32 and will cover several major academic and professional exchange initiatives. These include the Fulbright Master\u2019s and PhD Programmes, the Visiting Scholar Programme for post-doctoral researchers, the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Programme and the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Programme.<\/p>\n

Under the new arrangement, 66 Pakistani PhD scholars will receive support over a five-year period, enabling them to pursue advanced academic studies and research opportunities at leading US institutions.<\/p>\n

The initiative is designed to help develop highly skilled human resources in Pakistan while encouraging research, innovation and academic excellence. It will also give participating scholars and professionals valuable international exposure, specialised knowledge and opportunities to build academic and professional networks.<\/p>\n

The renewed agreement highlights the mutual commitment of Pakistan and the United States to expanding educational collaboration and strengthening human capital development.<\/p>\n

Through the programmes covered by the partnership, academic institutions, researchers, faculty members and professionals from both countries will have greater opportunities to cooperate and share knowledge.<\/p>\n

The agreement is also expected to deepen institutional links between universities and higher education organisations in Pakistan and the United States, creating more avenues for Pakistani students, researchers and faculty members to participate in international academic and research programmes.<\/p>\n

The Fulbright programme has long served as an important platform for strengthening educational and cultural relations between Pakistan and the United States.<\/p>\n

The latest renewal is expected to further expand these ties by promoting advanced research, professional development and the exchange of knowledge and expertise.<\/p>\n
