Islamabad : President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to providing Pakistan\u2019s youth with quality education and modern skills in line with the evolving demands of the contemporary world.<\/p>\n
In separate messages issued on International Youth Day, observed on August 12, both leaders stressed that Pakistan\u2019s sustainable development and future prosperity were closely linked to the progress and empowerment of its young population.<\/p>\n
President Zardari described the energy, determination, creativity and resilience of Pakistani youth as among the country\u2019s greatest assets. He noted that nearly 67 percent of Pakistan\u2019s population is under the age of 30, making young people a crucial national resource.<\/p>\n
The president emphasized that meaningful youth participation in education, employment, entrepreneurship, volunteer work, civic activities and decision-making was essential for national development.<\/p>\n
He also called for increased opportunities for young women and girls in education, vocational training, entrepreneurship, science, technology and leadership, saying their active participation was vital to the country\u2019s socio-economic progress.<\/p>\n
Zardari stressed the need to urgently address challenges including limited access to education, youth unemployment and gaps in digital literacy. He warned that failure to resolve these issues could have serious social and economic consequences in the future.<\/p>\n
He said the government was continuing efforts under the Prime Minister\u2019s Youth Programme to empower young people through opportunities in education, skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, digital innovation, sports and civic engagement.<\/p>\n
The president urged the youth to pursue excellence, embrace innovation and uphold values of integrity, compassion and tolerance while contributing actively to the country\u2019s development.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet us transform our common aspirations into shared achievements and build a stronger, more inclusive and prosperous Pakistan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, said the government was focused on promoting the intellectual, physical, mental and academic development of young people by effectively utilizing available national resources.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Government of Pakistan is committed to empowering our youth through modern and quality education aligned with the demands of the day, through dedicated efforts to promote technical and vocational skills, employment opportunities, entrepreneurship, industrial development, digital innovation, and social inclusion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The prime minister said Pakistan was joining the international community in observing International Youth Day while recognizing the potential, energy and aspirations of its talented young population.<\/p>\n
He noted that this year\u2019s observance was being held under the theme \u201cDifferent Contexts, Common Aspirations,\u201d which highlights that despite differences in social and economic circumstances, young people across the world share similar hopes and ambitions for a better future.<\/p>\n
Shehbaz urged young Pakistanis to pursue their objectives with hard work, honesty, responsibility and dedication to national service.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe sustainable development and bright future of our country are intrinsically linked to the progress of our youth. Let us renew our resolve to work together with full commitment and play a constructive and active role in the development and prosperity of our country, so that our homeland becomes a guarantee of a bright future for all segments of society especially our youth,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The prime minister said Pakistan\u2019s young population had brought recognition to the country at both national and international levels through achievements in various fields. He added that young people were also making significant contributions at the grassroots level as responsible and active members of society.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur youth are an invaluable National asset and are the promising driving force for our bright future. The creativity and determined efforts of our young people are undoubtedly contributing to encouraging progress across every sector of society. Harnessing the potential and capabilities of our youth is essential for building a prosperous, peaceful, and strong Pakistan.\u201d<\/p>\n
Shehbaz said the government was pursuing several policy measures and practical programmes to help young Pakistanis align their abilities, technical knowledge and professional expertise with international standards, allowing them to compete effectively at the global level.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo provide talented students with opportunities to advance in education, information technology, technical fields, and artificial intelligence, the Government has taken several important initiatives, including scholarship programmes, laptop distribution, and paid internships for students,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He further highlighted the Prime Minister\u2019s Youth Skill Development Programme (PMYSDP), which aims to build a skilled and professionally trained workforce.<\/p>\n
The prime minister said the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) had also been strengthened and given greater priority to provide high-quality technical and professional training along with internationally accredited certifications.<\/p>\n
