27th constitutional amendment to strengthen local govt system: Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui

Karachi: MQM (Muttahida Qaumi Movement) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has emphasized that the 27th Constitutional Amendment is critical for fostering greater harmony between provinces and promoting good governance across Pakistan. Speaking to the media, Siddiqui stated that his party has reached out to the government and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the amendment and its potential benefits.

Siddiqui also underlined the need to protect the local government system and called for the Supreme Court’s oversight on the matter. He further argued that Nazims and Mayors should be allowed to complete their full terms in office, as this would help ensure the provision of better services to urban citizens.

His remarks come as political leaders continue to deliberate on the passage of the 27th Constitutional Amendment in the ongoing parliamentary discussions.
