Pakistan, Afghan Taliban delegations in Doha for talks on terrorism and border issues: FO

Islamabad : A high-ranking Pakistani delegation, led by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, is set to hold talks with Afghan Taliban representatives in Doha, Qatar, today (Saturday).

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss immediate measures to tackle cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghanistan and to work towards restoring peace and stability along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In an official statement, the Foreign Office (FO) emphasized that Pakistan is not seeking further escalation but is urging the Afghan Taliban to fulfill their international obligations by taking concrete, verifiable actions against terrorist groups such as the FAK/TTP and FAH/BLA.

The FO also commended Qatar’s role as a mediator in facilitating these talks and expressed hope that the discussions would lead to positive outcomes for regional peace and security.
