California: Snapchat users are facing a major technical issue this morning, with millions unable to access the social media platform. This disruption appears to be linked to a widespread outage affecting Amazon Web Services (AWS), which is also causing problems for several other online platforms.
According to DownDetector, reports of Snapchat issues began surging at around 3 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. BST, with the number of complaints rising to more than 22,000. Affected users are reporting that they are unable to log in, send messages, or load content. In some cases, users have been locked out of their accounts entirely, receiving the message: “Due to repeated failed attempts or unusual activity, your access to Snapchat has been temporarily disabled. Please try again later.”
The outage is believed to be linked to the ongoing problems with AWS, which hosts Snapchat and other major services, including Ring, Coinbase, Roblox, and Fortnite. These platforms are also reportedly facing disruptions due to the AWS outage.
At this time, the exact cause of the AWS issue remains unclear, but it is affecting a broad range of services across the internet. Snapchat has yet to issue an official statement about the disruption, but users are being urged to remain patient while the issue is addressed.
