ISLAMABAD: The Punjab government is expanding its vehicle emission testing system to motorways in a strategic move to reduce air pollution and enforce environmental compliance.
This initiative is spearheaded by the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department.
Under the new plan, Emissions Testing System (ETS) booths will be installed at key motorway points across the province.
These booths will test vehicles for emissions compliance during intercity and long-distance travel.
Current Setup and Operating Hours
ETS booths are already functional at 20 major locations in Lahore.
These include areas like Emporium Mall, Liberty Market, Model Town Park, Jallo Park, and CBD Kalma Chowk.
The operating hours for these booths are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday.
There is a break from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM for lunch and prayer.
Public Access and Support Channels
Motorists are encouraged to use the ETS booths regularly to ensure their vehicles meet emission standards.
Booth locations and status updates are available through the Green Punjab mobile application.
Additionally, citizens can call the 1373 helpline for guidance and assistance.
This motorway initiative is designed to make emissions testing more accessible to the public, especially those on long-distance routes.
