Sindh Extends Biometric Verification Deadline for Vehicle Transfers

ISLAMABAD: The Sindh government has extended the deadline for mandatory biometric verification related to vehicle transfers and alterations to August 14.

This extension allows vehicle owners more time to complete their biometric authentication through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

The announcement was made by the Sindh Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Department in an official notification.

Phased Implementation of Biometric Verification

The biometric verification policy was initially introduced on September 16, 2024, aiming to increase transparency in vehicle registration and transfer processes across Sindh.
The implementation is divided into three phases:

  • From July 1, biometric verification became mandatory for new vehicle registrations.

  • Starting November 1, vehicle buyers were required to complete biometric verification.

  • The final phase mandates biometric verification for both buyers and sellers in vehicle transactions.

Benefits and Process of Biometric Authentication

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon highlighted that this policy is a critical step toward digitising public services and preventing fraudulent vehicle transfers.

By ensuring accurate identification of all parties involved, the government aims to protect citizens and improve transparency within the Excise Department.

Vehicle owners can complete the biometric process at any NADRA e-Facilitation Centre or district excise office across Sindh.

This move underlines Sindh’s commitment to enhancing digital governance and securing vehicle-related transactions.
