Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz chairs high-level meeting, orders swift relief & rehabilitation for flood victims

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a special meeting to review the flood situation, during which it was decided to take immediate and effective measures for compensation and rehabilitation of the flood victims.

The meeting approved the formation of flood relief committees at district and tehsil levels to ensure smooth delivery of aid to affected people.

Maryam Nawaz announced that a survey form, mobile app, and a monitoring dashboard will be developed to streamline the relief efforts. She emphasized that she will personally oversee the process to ensure transparency and efficiency.

According to a report by the Revenue Department, 3,775 villages in 27 districts and 64 tehsils of Punjab have been affected by the floods. The disaster has destroyed 63,200 brick houses and 309,684 mud houses.

The meeting also decided to initiate immediate restoration of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure in flood-hit areas. Teams will include representatives from the Urban Unit, Revenue Department, Agriculture Department, and the Army.

The Chief Minister directed the establishment of maximum relief camps and distribution points so that no affected individual is left without assistance.
