Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto receives guard of honour at PM House

Islamabad: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a warm welcome on Tuesday as he arrived at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad for his two-day official visit to Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally welcomed President Prabowo, and a guard of honour was presented to the visiting leader by a smartly turned-out contingent of Pakistan’s armed forces.

President Prabowo arrived in Islamabad on Monday after accepting an invitation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. According to the Foreign Office (FO), this is President Prabowo’s first visit to Pakistan, with the last Indonesian presidential visit being made by Joko Widodo in 2018.

The FO also highlighted the significance of the visit, noting that it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Indonesia.

During his stay, President Prabowo is scheduled to meet with President Asif Ali Zardari. Additionally, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, are expected to call on the Indonesian president.

The two countries are also expected to sign several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) during the visit, aimed at strengthening cooperation in key sectors such as trade, investment, defence, health, information technology, climate initiatives, education, and cultural exchange. Discussions will also cover enhancing bilateral partnerships on regional and global issues.
