Iranian President thanks Pakistan’s leadership for role in Iran–US mediation process, peace efforts

Islamabad : Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for their constructive involvement in supporting dialogue and easing tensions between Iran and the United States.

The appreciation was conveyed during a phone call between President Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, which lasted over 30 minutes. It was their first direct conversation after the recent Islamabad Peace Deal was signed.

During the call, the Iranian president acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, saying that Islamabad’s positive role during a sensitive period would be remembered. He also expressed Iran’s desire to further strengthen cooperation and expand relations with Pakistan in multiple fields of shared interest, while extending goodwill to the Pakistani people.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Iranian leadership and people on the agreement, describing it as an important step toward regional stability. He noted that the development would contribute to peace in the region, assist Iran’s recovery efforts, and further enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.

He also conveyed respectful greetings to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, and welcomed Tehran’s progress in the peace process. The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continue supporting diplomatic efforts as a close and friendly neighbour.

Both sides agreed to stay in regular contact, deepen cooperation, and arrange reciprocal visits in the near future to strengthen bilateral ties and coordination on regional matters.
