Rawalpindi : The Chief of Defence Staff of Ghana, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, visited General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday and held a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Upon arrival at GHQ, the visiting Ghanaian military leader was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, evolving regional security dynamics, and ways to expand bilateral defence cooperation. Discussions also included enhanced collaboration in joint training programmes, counter-terrorism efforts, and defence production initiatives.
The Ghanaian defence chief appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions toward regional peace and stability.
Separately, Ghana’s National Security Coordinator Abdul Razak Osman also held meetings in Islamabad with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters.
Lieutenant General Agyapong was also present in these engagements, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence and security ties between Pakistan and Ghana.
