Hasan Ali’s Mother Robbed of Over Rs230,000 Cash in Gujranwala

ISLAMABAD: In a troubling incident in Gujranwala, the mother of Pakistan’s fast bowler Hasan Ali was robbed of over Rs230,000 while on her way to the market.

According to Hasan Ali’s brother, Khurram, two men on a motorcycle snatched his mother’s purse containing the cash and fled the scene.

Police have launched a manhunt and assured the public that the culprits will be caught soon.

Details of the Robbery Incident

Khurram Ali informed the media that the dacoity took place when their mother was heading out for shopping. The two assailants targeted her and quickly escaped with the money.

Law enforcement officials are actively investigating the case and intensifying efforts to track down the suspects. The local police have vowed to take swift action to ensure the safety and security of residents.

Decline in Property Crimes in Gujranwala

Despite this unfortunate event, recent data shows a significant decrease in property crimes in Gujranwala this year.

According to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, there has been a 47% drop in shop robbery incidents during the first four months of 2025 compared to the same period last year.

Other crimes such as shop dacoity, house robbery, shop burglary, and car theft have also declined notably.

Police officials credit the decline to rigorous operations against organized crime gangs, including the arrest of 290 gang members and recovery of stolen property worth millions of rupees.

The Gujranwala police continue their efforts to maintain law and order and prevent such incidents from recurring.
