Andrew Tate and Brother Charged with Rape: UK Prosecutors

ISLAMABAD: Controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate have been formally charged with multiple counts of rape, assault, and human trafficking by UK prosecutors, officials announced.

The allegations stem from incidents dating back to 2012 through 2015, though the charges were only authorized by the Crown Prosecution Service in January 2024 and have recently been made public.

Serious Charges and International Legal Proceedings

Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer aged 38, faces ten criminal charges in the UK, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution, all relating to three women.

His brother Tristan Tate, 36, has been charged with 11 similar offenses against one woman. A European arrest warrant was issued in 2024, prompting Romanian courts to order the extradition of the brothers to the UK. However, ongoing domestic criminal cases in Romania must be resolved first.

The Tate brothers, who hold dual British and US citizenship, deny all allegations. Romanian prosecutors separately accuse them of trafficking minors, sexual intercourse with a minor, and money laundering.

The Romanian investigation alleges the creation of a criminal organization in 2021 that sexually exploited several victims.

Public Figure with a Controversial Online Presence

Andrew Tate first gained fame in 2016 through his brief appearance on the UK reality show “Big Brother,” from which he was removed following the circulation of a controversial video. Subsequently, he built a massive social media following by promoting a divisive, often misogynistic message about masculinity and success. His presence on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) has attracted over 10.7 million followers.

Aside from criminal cases, Tate faces a civil lawsuit in the UK, where four British women accuse him of rape and coercive control. In February 2025, the brothers traveled to Florida, marking their first time leaving Romania since their 2022 arrest.

Andrew Tate’s legal battles are unfolding across several countries, drawing international attention due to his influential and polarizing persona.
