Washington: President Donald Trump has confirmed the arrest of a suspect involved in the murder of prominent conservative figure and his close associate Charlie Kirk.
In a special interview with Fox News, President Trump revealed that a person who personally knew the suspect provided information that led to the police action. “We have the person we were looking for,” he said.
31-year-old Charlie Kirk, founder and CEO of Turning Point USA, was shot on September 11 during a public event at Utah Valley University. The incident shocked conservative circles across the United States.
U.S. investigative agencies have recovered the bolt-action weapon used in the attack, which was found in a nearby area to the crime scene. According to investigators, the assailant appears to be of college student age. Following the murder, American authorities had announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s capture. President Trump called the arrest a major breakthrough in the investigation.
Charlie Kirk was extremely popular among conservative youth. His organization, Turning Point USA, has been actively promoting Republican ideals among American youth.
