Islamabad: The Senate has unanimously approved a bill presented by Senator Farooq H. Naik, aimed at ensuring the fundamental rights of arrested, detained, and under-custody individuals.
According to the bill, any person who is arrested will be informed in writing about the reasons for their detention. In addition, prisoners will be allowed to receive home-cooked food and necessary medications, although these provisions will be subject to court approval and discretion.
Senator Farooq Naik emphasized that the rights of the accused will be protected even before the crime is proven. He stated that the purpose of the bill is to promote legal transparency and respect for human rights.
The unanimous approval of this bill is being seen as a positive step towards the protection of human rights, which could help improve the living conditions of prisoners and individuals under custody.
