ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that all banks across Pakistan will remain closed on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
This closure is in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, a public holiday commemorating Pakistan’s nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998.
Details of the Closure
SBP stated that all commercial banks, development finance institutions (DFIs), and microfinance banks (MFBs) will be closed for public dealings on this day.
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will also remain closed in recognition of the holiday.

Impact on Banking Services
During the holiday, in-person banking services such as cash withdrawals, deposits, and account queries will be unavailable.
However, digital banking services, including online platforms and ATMs, will remain operational for customers to conduct remote transactions.

Customers are advised to complete any urgent banking transactions before May 28.
It is recommended to use digital banking channels for essential services on the day of the holiday and to plan ahead to avoid inconvenience.
