Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered an immediate inquiry into the roof collapse in Lahore’s Baghbanpura area that claimed the life of a child, while expressing profound grief over the tragic incident.
Following the accident, the chief minister instructed the Lahore commissioner and the director general of Rescue 1122 to submit a detailed report without delay. She also commended Rescue 1122 personnel for their swift response in safely rescuing more than 10 children trapped beneath the debris.
Maryam Nawaz directed the relevant authorities to provide prompt and high-quality medical care to the injured children and all other affected individuals.
She further ordered that anyone found responsible due to negligence or poor construction standards should face strict legal action after the completion of the investigation.
In response to the incident, the chief minister announced that an immediate structural safety inspection would be carried out at schools situated in densely populated areas across Punjab to ensure the safety of students.
Emphasising the importance of emergency response, she said authorities would not tolerate any delay in rescue operations during such incidents and instructed all concerned departments to remain fully prepared for emergencies.
