Imran Khan Rejects ‘Give and Take’ Deal Amid Political Turmoil: Ali Zafar

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has firmly ruled out any ‘give and take’ formula to resolve his current political and legal challenges, according to PTI’s lawyer Ali Zafar.

Despite ongoing pressures and negotiations from various sides, Khan remains steadfast in his stance, emphasizing that any talks will be only in the best interest of the country without seeking personal favors.

Imran Khan’s Firm Stance on Negotiations

Following recent suggestions from Aleema Khan, the former premier’s sister, who proposed a compromise to secure Imran Khan’s release by addressing pressures on the judiciary, Imran Khan has clarified his position.

Ali Zafar told the media after a court hearing at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail that Khan is open to dialogue, but not at the cost of a ‘give and take’ deal. “Khan sahab said he is willing to talk but would not ask for any personal gains or relaxations,” Zafar said. The former prime minister highlighted that if he wanted favors, he would have obtained them long ago.

This firm refusal comes amidst efforts by former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, who recently met Imran Khan to encourage a strategy aimed at creating political space for the party.

Chaudhry noted that Khan appears to be receiving incomplete or misleading information from some within the party, complicating his decision-making.

Creating Political Space: Fawad Chaudhry’s Perspective

Fawad Chaudhry shared with Dawn that during his meeting with Imran Khan, he emphasized the importance of a broader political approach.

He pointed out that PTI is currently fighting on multiple fronts – against the government, the establishment, and even parts of the opposition.

Chaudhry observed that the party’s leadership outside jail comprises mostly newcomers unfamiliar with the complexities of the situation.

To navigate this, Chaudhry suggested a dual-track approach: building alliances with opposition parties first and simultaneously engaging in talks with the government and the establishment.

According to him, this strategy is vital to carve out political space for PTI and strengthen its position in the evolving political landscape.

As Imran Khan remains firm against any ‘give and take’ deals, the PTI continues to face a challenging road ahead, balancing legal battles and political negotiations.
