5 Islamabad high court judges move Supreme Court against chief justice

Islamabad: Five judges of the Islamabad High Court (HC) have filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC), challenging the administrative decisions of Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar

The petition argues that the Chief Justice cannot suspend or curtail a judge’s judicial powers through administrative authority, and that Article 209 of the Constitution is the only legal path for restraining a judge from performing judicial duties.

The petitioners include:

  • Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani

  • Justice Babar Sattar

  • Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri

  • Justice  Ejaz Ishaq Khan

  • Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz

They have requested the Supreme Court’s constitutional guidance and intervention to protect judicial independence and ensure that due process is followed within the judiciary.
