Rahim Yar Khan : Khawaja Tareef Gulshan, popularly known as Teefi Butt, was killed on Saturday during a violent confrontation with the Crime Control Department (CCD) in Punjab. Butt, who was the primary suspect in the murder of Ameer Balaj, died when his associates exchanged gunfire with law enforcement officials.
The incident took place in Rahim Yar Khan while the CCD officers were transporting Teefi Butt for further questioning related to the high-profile murder case. The suspect had only returned to Pakistan from Dubai the previous day, after reportedly agreeing to face trial for his alleged involvement in the crime.
Sources suggest that during the transfer, a group of armed individuals attempted to free Butt, opening fire on the CCD team. In the chaos, Butt was struck by gunfire from his own allies.
Teefi Butt, along with Khawaja Aqeel (alias Gogi Butt) and others, had been named in the FIR for the 2024 murder of Ameer Balaj. Balaj was gunned down while attending a wedding at a private housing society when Muzaffar Hussain, a shooter linked to Teefi Butt, opened fire. Hussain was killed shortly after the shooting incident.
Ameer Balaj was the son of Arif Ameer, also known as Tepu Truckanwala, who was himself killed in a targeted shooting at Lahore airport in 2010. The tragic deaths within the Ameer family have highlighted the ongoing cycle of violence involving powerful criminal networks in the region.
