Skardu : Acclaimed vocalist Quratulain Balouch, popularly known as QB, was injured after being attacked by a Himalayan brown bear while camping in Deosai National Park near Skardu on Thursday night.
The singer, who was shooting with her team near Bara Pani—a popular camping site within the park—was suddenly assaulted by the bear. The animal inflicted injuries on both her arms, though her cameraman and another companion escaped unharmed.
Police have opened an inquiry to understand the details of the incident. Wildlife authorities have cautioned visitors to avoid isolated campsites after dark and recommended setting up tents close to hotels or designated safe locations.
Deosai National Park, spanning the districts of Skardu and Astore, is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and unique wildlife. The park is home to the rare Himalayan brown bear, whose population is estimated to be fewer than 80 individuals in the area, often foraging along the Bandapani river.
