Shehbaz Sharif says petroleum prices will stay unchanged despite global oil hike

Islamabad : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided not to increase petroleum prices despite the recent rise in global oil rates, aiming to provide relief to the public and uphold the government’s commitment to supporting citizens.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Prime Minister said the government is making every effort to minimize the economic pressure on people during the current challenging financial situation.

He noted that tensions in the region are affecting the global economy and could also have implications for Pakistan. However, he assured that the government is addressing these challenges through timely policy decisions, austerity steps, and strict financial management.

Shehbaz Sharif said that as the “Khadim-e-Pakistan,” he remains determined to reduce the burden on lower-income groups. He added that the government has already begun implementing cost-cutting measures within official institutions and expects cooperation from the country’s elite as well.

The Prime Minister further stated that Pakistan currently has adequate crude oil reserves due to the efforts of the country’s diplomatic and economic teams. Authorities at both federal and provincial levels are working together to ensure that fuel prices remain aligned with the government’s official rates.

He also expressed optimism that global oil markets will soon stabilize, which could help reduce pressure on fuel prices within the country.
