Pakistan Crypto Council to Hold Meeting on Digital Currency Regulations

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Crypto Council is set to hold a significant meeting on Monday, 2nd June 2025, chaired by Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue.

This gathering will serve as a strategic platform to discuss the rapidly changing regulatory landscape of digital currencies and the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem in Pakistan.

Strategic Regulatory Discussions

The meeting will bring together top officials and key stakeholders to deliberate on creating a comprehensive and effective legal framework for digital assets.

Mr. Bilal Bin Saqib, Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Blockchain and Crypto, will attend as the CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council.

Other prominent attendees include the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Secretary of the Law & Justice Division, and the Secretary of the Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication. Together, they will work towards aligning Pakistan’s digital currency regulations with global standards and technological progress.

Formation of Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA)

A key focus of the meeting will be laying the groundwork for establishing the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA). This proposed autonomous body aims to oversee the digital finance and crypto sector, ensuring security, transparency, and investor protection.

The Council intends to foster a regulatory environment that promotes responsible innovation and adoption of blockchain technology, while also enhancing financial inclusion for all segments of society.

The upcoming meeting highlights the government’s dedication to building a future-ready financial infrastructure that balances innovation with stability and compliance in the evolving digital economy.
