Verdict in May 9 Cases: Anti-Terrorism Court Acquits Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Sentences Yasmin Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry and Others to Imprisonment

 

Lahore: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore announced its verdict in two cases related to the May 9 incidents, acquitting former Foreign Minister and PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi. The court sentenced Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry, Mian Mahmood Al-Rasheed, and Umar Sarfraz Cheema to 10 years imprisonment each, while Alia Hamza and Sanam Javed received 5 years imprisonment each.

These cases pertain to the incidents of setting police vehicles on fire and other protests at Shadman Police Station. The verdict was delivered by ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul during a hearing at Kot Lakhpat Jail.

It is noteworthy that a few days earlier, the court had also sentenced other PTI leaders in various cases related to the May 9 protests.
