Islamabad :Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Central Secretary of Information, Sheikh Waqas Akram, has filed a Rs 1 billion defamation lawsuit against former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry in an Islamabad court.
According to the petition, Fawad Chaudhry made defamatory remarks on social media that allegedly damaged Waqas Akram’s personal reputation and political standing. The statements were termed “offensive and misleading,” with serious implications for the plaintiff’s public image.
The case was heard by Additional Sessions Judge Sohail Sheikh, who after reviewing the initial application, adjourned the proceedings until July 12 for preliminary arguments.
This legal action marks a new chapter in the growing internal rift within PTI, highlighting rising tensions between current and former party leaders.
