IMF Highlights Encouraging Economic Stability in Pakistan

Islamabad: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) representative, Maheer Benansi, has commended Pakistan’s progress toward economic stability, describing the pace as promising.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in Islamabad, Benansi noted that Pakistan’s performance under the IMF loan program remains strong. He stressed that implementing structural reforms is crucial to ensuring long-term economic resilience.

Benansi also acknowledged Pakistan’s achievements in environmental reforms but cautioned that escalating global trade tensions and geopolitical uncertainties are increasing risks. He further highlighted that weakening global cooperation is adding to these challenges.

The IMF official emphasized the urgent need for wise and forward-looking policy measures to sustain macroeconomic stability, improve the fairness of the tax system, and foster a conducive business environment geared toward sustainable growth.
