Public holiday announced in Rawalpindi ahead of Independence Day festivities

Rawalpindi: Following a similar move by Islamabad, the district administration of Rawalpindi has declared a local holiday on Wednesday, August 14, in connection with Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations.

According to an official notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema, all provincial government offices and departments across the city will remain closed for the day.

The decision comes a day after Islamabad authorities announced a local public holiday on Tuesday, August 13, during which educational institutions, private offices, and business centers in the federal capital will stay closed.

These back-to-back holidays aim to facilitate preparations and ensure smooth conduct of Independence Day events in the twin cities, while also minimizing traffic congestion and providing convenience to the public.
